Gonzo didn’t practice, rift over injury?

Phil B indicates there might be some disagreements between the club and the player

I don’t know if Gonzo will be back this season. The Colts probably wanted to see if he could play these last two games to judge if he could be counted on for the playoffs. I was thinking the same thing when asking kicker Adam Vinatieri about trusting his right knee enough if he can get through these next two games. Vinatieri practiced in full on Wednesday. Matt Stover is still in town, so we don’t know if the Colts will carry two kickers for a week or two until they are convinced Vinatieri can handle it.

Caldwell also said this would be an important week for both Gonzalez and Vinatieri. Read into it what you will, but that says to me the team wants to be able to make a determination now or in the next week, before beginning playoffs preparations.

Nobody wants to see another Marvin Harrison-like playoff moment, when the injured receiver tried to make more out of a long gain against San Diego, with the Colts ahead 7-0 and seemingly driving in for another score, only to have the WR fumble away the scoring chance at the end of his run two years ago. Everybody remembers that well.
