Monday Night Football continues to do well for ESPN. On Monday, the Giants-Washington game was a bust, but not so in the ratings. It was down from last week’s 9.6 rating for the Arizona-San Francisco contest. But football continues to be king on TV.
Monday Night Football Wins the Night Among All NetworksGiants-Redskins Game Earns 8.4 Rating and 11.3 Million Viewers;MNF Wins the Night in Viewers for Fifth Time This Season
This week’s Monday Night Football game – the New York Giants’ 45-12 victory over the Washington Redskins – earned an 8.4 rating, representing an average of 8,366,000 households (11,343,000 viewers – P2+). MNF led all the night’s programs (broadcast or cable) among households, viewers and all key male and adult demos, making ESPN the top network for the night in all categories. It is the fifth time ESPN’s Monday Night Football has won the night for total viewers among all networks this season.For 2009, ESPN’s MNF telecasts represent cable’s 15 biggest audiences (and 16 of the top 17) among households, as well as the top 14 among viewers. Through 15 weeks (16 games) of the NFL season, ESPN’s MNF is averaging a 10.3 rating and 10,206,000 households (14,202,000 P2+), up 17 percent, 18 percent and 20 percent, respectively, from last season.ESPN.COMESPN.com had 55.5 million page views to NFL content accessed via computers and mobile devices for Monday thru Tuesday at noon — up 11 percent from the comparable time period last year. Specifically, page views for the NFL section on computers and mobile were up 23 percent from last year. Additionally, ESPN.com streamed 2.4 million NFL related videos.MNF SEASON FINALE: BRETT FAVRE AND VIKINGS AT CHICAGO BEARSESPN’s MNF 2009 season finale next week (Dec. 28) will feature an NFC North rivalry when Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings continue their push to the playoffs when they travel to the Windy City to face Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears at 8:30 p.m. ET. ESPN’s game around the game coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. with NFL Live and continues throughout the afternoon.
