- The league’s last unbeaten team has failed to win the Super Bowl in each of the previous two seasons (2008 Titans, 2007 Patriots). The last team to win the Super Bowl as the league’s final unbeaten team during the regular season was the Colts in 2006 (started 9-0, defeated Bears in Super Bowl XLI).
- Indianapolis is 7-0 in games decided by four or fewer points this season. That’s the best record in games decided by four or fewer points by a team in NFL history. The 1992 Dolphins are the only other team to win at least six games by four or fewer points without a loss in a game decided by four or fewer points in a season (6-0).
The only other time the Colts were seeded No. 1 in the playoffs since the league expanded the postseason to 12 teams in 1990, Indianapolis lost its first postseason game to the Steelers in the 2005 Divisional Playoffs.
