Not everyone thinks that’s a good idea.
I’ve seen it a million times. A relatively mundane event, like the Indianapolis Colts deciding they’d rather pull starters in meaningless games at the end of the season rather than risk injuries before the playoffs, ruins the easy storyline — “Hey everyone, did you know the Colts could go undefeated?!” — for columnists everywhere.
Anyone who knows much about sports columnists, though, knows that they don’t just let things like that roll of their backs. They have a platform and they’re not afraid to use it. How dare you make them work for more interesting or obscure angles to stories?
