The 2010 NBA All-Star Game is in Dallas on Sunday but that’s not exactly where former UConn Husky and current Washington Wizards small forward Caron Butler is heading.
He’ll be going to Dallas as he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in a seven player deal on Saturday night.
The Wizards and Mavericks completed a seven player deal on Saturday night that sends Butler, Brendan Haywood, DeShawn Stevenson and cash considerations to the Mavericks. The Wizards will get Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, Quinton Ross and James Singleton.
Butler played in 47 games with the Wizards this season and was averaging 16.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
He was initially drafted out of UConn in 2002 by the Miami Heat in the first round (10th overall pick).
He spent two seasons in Miami before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer of 2004. After one season in the Hollywood lights, he was traded to the Wizards in the summer of 2005 where he had played the last six seasons (including this year).
