Here’s another edition of the Sports Media Weekly Podcast in which Keith Thibault of Sports Media Journal and I discuss the sports media issues of the week.
No guest this week, but there was plenty to talk about. Keith and I exchanged opinions on the NCAA Tournament and the possibility of this being CBS’ last year covering March Madness. We also talk about some of our favorite announcing teams doing the event.
Of course, we can’t forget Tiger Woods’ announcement that he’s returning to play golf at The Masters in April and what it means for ESPN and CBS which will air the event.
We then move to Turner Sports hiring the three headed monster of Ernie Johnson, Jr., Dick Stockton and Brian Anderson to replace Chip “FISTED” Caray on MLB games on TBS.
We also talk about John Smoltz not officially retiring, but moving to the broadcast booth to join both Turner Sports and MLB Network this season.
We finish the podcast by discussing the return of Versus to DirecTV after a more than six month dispute.
