Chris Polian Profile

A great read, tip to Kuharsky, I thought this was in the print only edition.

Gold Miners general manager Tom Huiskens told the same story. Polian was given an opportunity, but he was not a favored son eating off a silver spoon.

“He was there from the crack of dawn till 11 or 12 at night,” Huiskens said. “If he got special treatment, it was the other kind. He got more piled on. No one wanted to give the impression he got a free ride.”

Back in the fold

Bill was hired as general manager of the expansion Carolina Panthers in 1994. He brought in Chris as a scout, and so began a 16-year NFL apprenticeship in player evaluation and football ops that accounts for nearly half of Chris’ life.

Dungy worked closely with Chris and was sincerely impressed.

“The biggest compliment I can give him is I think he’d be in the same position whether he was Bill Polian’s son or not,” Dungy said. “He’ll be able to stand on his own, no question.”
