Another piece of breaking news, the Baltimore Ravens which had a five year relationship with MASN, will look for a new home for its preseason games and ancillary programming. The two sides failed to reach a new agreement for this season and beyond.
Ryan Sharrow of the Baltimore Business Journal says the two sides worked to reach an agreement to no avail.
Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun writes that the Ravens are looking for another partner that had the same reach of MASN.
DCRTV says the Ravens may have an announcement on a new flagship partner this week (scroll down).
The Ravens joined MASN when the network began operation and the two sides combined for postgame programming as well as other shows during the season. This is a big hit for both sides as MASN not just airs in Baltimore and Washington, it penetrates into Eastern Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina.
MASN aired all Ravens preseason games that weren’t picked up by the national NFL TV partners.
After the Orioles and Nationals, MASN’s programming in the fall and winter seasons is rather bare and the Ravens gave the channel some original shows.
Unless the Ravens can reach an agreement with Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic which partners with the Washington NFL team, the organization will be hard-pressed to find another media partner with the same reach.
The Ravens preseason games will be seen locally on WJZ and WBAL, but not on MASN.
