The Associated Press reported today that John Gill, first year defensive tackle for the Colts, was found intoxicated in a ditch at 4:00 AM on Sunday morning. He was arrested for public intoxication and was unable to stand on his own.
This kind of incident during training camp is not something the Colts front office tends to handle lightly. One has to wonder about the mental state of any young player hoping to fight his way onto an NFL roster who would allow himself to get so physically intoxicated during such a key time.
I will not be surprised if Gill is waived early in the week and another player is brought into the fray.
*UPDATE – All charges against Gill have been dropped.
