UConn Huskies head coach Randy Edsall released his depth chart on Monday for Saturday’s opener against the Michigan Wolverines and let’s just say there is one surprise.
Back in early August, Edsall had said that Greg Lloyd, who was hurt in the final regular season game last year, would be lost for the 2010 season since his injured knee wasn’t ready. Well if you look at the defensive depth chart, you will see Lloyd listed as the starting linebacker.
With Cody Endres suspended for an undetermined amount of time, redshirt freshman Michael Box is the back up to the starter Zach Frazer. Also running back D.J. Shoemate, a transfer from USC, is listed as one of the backups (Robbie Frey is the other) to the starter Jordan Todman.
Four true freshman have made the two deep for the Michigan game. Leon Kinnard is listed as a backup wide receiver, Taylor Mack and Gilbert Stlouis at cornerback and Adam Mueller at longsnapper.
One other thing to take note of is that Twyon Martin has regained his starting position at defensive tackle.
So folks, this is what Edsall will put out there on Saturday afternoon at the Big House.
