Dustin Pedroia, the diminutive second baseman of the Boston Red Sox, notched his first Gold Glove Award today. It was the only Gold Glove a Red Sox player won, a year after Kevin Youkilis took home the hardware.
His closest competition was Mark Ellis of Oakland, and it was basically a dead heat between them. I’m guessing Pedey’s higher stature (in terms of name recognition, not height!) got him the award.
The other winners:
C Joe Mauer
1B Carlos Pena
3B Adrian Beltre
SS Michael Young
OF Torii Hunter
OF Ichiro Suzuki
OF Grady Sizemore
P Mike Mussina
