What do you want to see on Saturday? Miami Edition

Last Thursday gave us a game that provided everything we had hoped for and was the perfect warm-up for this weeks clash with Miami. Here’s to more of the same.

Go above and beyond what the ra ras demand on Saturday.

What do you want to see on Saturday?

Jeff

Jacory Harris with negative rushing yards- This one isn’t uncommon.  Harris hasn’t posted positive rushing yards in his last 14 games.  But he’s still a mobile QB, and if he’s got rushing yardage it can’t be good for us.  Keep him in the negative, please.

200 yards rushing for the Buckeyes- With the talent we have carrying the ball and the men we have in the trenches, we should be able to pull this off.

Zero sacks allowed- In 2009, Miami had a grand total of 24 sacks, their worst performance in decades.  The defense is not a group that knows how to pressure a QB, and again let me remind you of our talent on the OL.  Keep them out of the backfield, and it’ll be a fun night.

The loudest stadium Cryami will see (Jim’s note: hear?) all year- There isn’t an ACC stadium that holds 105,000, is there?  Let’s show these guys what it’s like to have a massive amount of humanity screaming at once.  Let’s intimidate them, because the Canes don’t attract big crowds at home.  In fact, they’ve stopped doing player introductions before games down there.  Instead, everybody in the stands gets up and tells a little bit about themselves.  It saves time.

Joe

The offensive line controlling the line of scrimmage- One of Miami’s strengths is their D-line, We saw huge holes against Marshall and lots of time for Pryor to throw the ball.  Miami provides a much tougher test.

Our kick-off coverage shutting down Miami’s return game- Marshall got a big return against us, and Miami has better athletes back deep in the return game.

A big win, protect our house!- We have not protected our house in these big games the last few times. I want to see the Shoe rocking from start of the game game all the way through Carmen Ohio afterwards!

Jaamal Berry getting a chance against his home state team will mean things are going great for the Buckeyes.

Mali

No. False. Start. Penalties.

No sacks- The strength of the Miami Defense is their pressure; the Buckeye O line has been coming together since last year. With their experience and TP’s ability to run, this is obtainable.

Big T1e1n Speed- If it’s Saine running by the defenders, if it’s Posey/Sanzo/Stoneburner getting open… Speed ain’t relegated only to the south.

Resiliency- Harris is a good QB, and will make some plays. I want to see the Silver Bullets shrug those off and go back to the business of shutting him down.

Jaamal and Carlos- It would mean that the Buckeyes were up big, and would give them a chance to break free against one of the “home teams”.

USC ‘Shoe- This needs to be the loudest game that the Hurricanes play in. Ever. They are used to playing to a non-sell out crowd in a smaller stadium… it’s time to show what Ohio Football is about.

Seantrel Henderson- Is it wrong for me to want to see him against Cam one or two plays?  Oh, and LaTwann, too… especially after the noise he has been talking.

Eric

A fast, aggressive, attacking defense- Defenses that sit back and react have a tendency to allow the offense to dictate the terms of the game.  A defense that attacks does the dictating.  The Buckeye defenses needs to stomp on the Hurricanes and quick to send a message.

More touchdowns than field goals- Scoring is great, but champions can punch it into the endzone against good teams.

Sorry Mr. Basil, only extra points from the kickers please.

Zero special teams mistakes- We made 3 in the last game (tipped extra point, blocked field goal, long return).  Those types of mistakes need to end now or else they will drastically change the face of this game.  For point of reference, I’m going to say that any return up to the 35 is simply good return work.  Beyond that and the coverage is clearly in question.

A solid day from the secondary- I’ll let Jim handle the definition of this (Jim’s note: thanks).  What I know is that we have the defensive line and linebackers to control the running game and get pressure on Harris.  The question is, do we have the secondary (outside of FS Jermale Hines and Star Tyler Moeller) to eliminate Harris’ options throwing the football?  A good job from the secondary in this game goes a long way towards making this defense a force to be feared and reckoned with.

Jay

Pryor rising to the occasion- Big players make big plays in big games.

An offensive line in control- Limit the penalties and give Pryor time (this will obviously contribute to item number 1).

Punishing hits- Everybody likes them, but especially when the opponent is a team like Miami.
