It was worth the financial risk to bring him back this season. He was making only $2.75 million, a relatively humble total, especially given the fact there’s no salary cap this season.
Next year, though, he was due to make $5 million. And the year after that, $7 million.
Sad but true, he may not just be done as a Colt, he might be done as an NFL player. At this point, who is going to pay him even the minimum to show up and take a precious roster spot? He couldn’t get through a single half of the first game without blowing out that other arm. Through no fault of his own, he has become a risk nobody can afford to take.
