Heyward has been held without a sack in two games, will that change this week?

We’re back again for some things that the staff here at the BBC would like to see from the Buckeyes on Saturday. The Bobcats shouldn’t provide much of a challenge, so in general, improvement across the board would be ideal.

But since “improvement across the board” doesn’t a post make, here are some specifics.

Jeff

Seven sacks… at least- The Ohio offensive line is young and inexperienced.  It has the tendency to get abused, like Toledo did to it last week.  Attack.  No mercy.  Destroy.

Sixty percent completion percentage from Pryor- He had a great game against Miami, but the haters still found something to attack.  Take that away from them.

Kenny Guiton’s debut- Blow out the Bobcats early, and get Guiton some snaps.  I give up on Bauserman, and I think Guiton needs some play time, because Braxton Miller will take over for Pryor when he goes pro in a year or two.

Crush Boo Jackson- He’s got talent, but he tends to show more of it against us.  Make him leave with a damaged ego instead of a bright future like last time.

It's time for Johnson to step up at strong safety.

Special teams, not “special” teams- Actually, I just want the kicking game to get their stuff together.  11 warriors, working together, in a hurry, with bad intentions.

I’d love to have several “Ooooohhhh…” moments from the crowd where they are wondering if the Bobcat will be able to walk of the field under his own power.

Young Bucks- Let’s get up in the first half and get some experience for tomorrow’s stars.

No false starts- It may be a stretch, given that we hope to play our young’uns… but hope springs eternal. (Jim’s note: two games in a row? you’re just getting greedy now.)

Something Berry exciting- We’ve seen flashes, but this week could be the coming out party!

Red zone TDs- No offense, Devin, but I’d like to only see you kicking PATs this week.

No injuries- No “Beanie against Youngstown” or “Terelle against New Mexico” moments, por favor.

Big plays from Big O- Orhian Johnson, here’s your chance… make the most of it.

The game- Stupid Charter Communications and their lack of Big Ten Network….

Eric

A shutout- This defense is capable.  Lets make certain they get one (Jim’s note: looking at you kick coverage).

If only Pryor's number was 7...

At least three catches from Stoneburner- He only caught one against Miami though Pryor tried to hit him a couple more times.  I want to see us continue to go to the TE because it is one more thing that makes this offense extremely tough to defend.

No special teams gaffes- I asked for it last week but it obviously didn’t happen.  It would be nice to have it straightened out now (Jim’s note: particularly against a team that doesn’t have the quality returners Miami does).

Jay

A “no mistakes” game- We only had two penalties last saturday, but that still leaves room for improvement.  Wouldn’t it be awesome to see a game where you come away saying “we executed everything.” (Jim’s note: yes it would.)

Some trickeration- Having a game where you execute flawlessly doesn’t mean you can’t mix it up a bit and take a chance.

Sure, Tressel and the Buckeyes are more likely to just keep playing it straight and not do anything fancy, but trying out a trick play in the appropriate context could become something like a confidence booster or rallying point going forward.

Running the ball well- The best way to feel comfortable enough to mix it up a bit in the second half of the game would be to pound away in the first half, picking up big yards for our backs.
