What do you want to see on Saturday? Illinois

What do you want to see on Saturday? IllinoisWe’re back again to give you the things we want to see on Saturday from the Buckeyes. And by the way, feel free to chime in with what you would like to see as well, this isn’t a monopoly of opinions around here.

Jeff

  • Terrelle’s average day- Over 186 yards passing and over 20 yards on the ground for our quarterback.  Those were the numbers that Troy Smith put out in Week 5 of his Heisman year.  I’m confident that if Pryor outpaces Smith game-by-game, we’ll go 12-0 and he’ll win the Heisman.  He will need to do much much better in his 13th game, though.
  • A third WR having a big day- Did you know that only 3 of our top 10 receivers are actually considered WRs?  And one of those three is Grant Schwartz?  Taurian Washington is actually a joke in his home stadium’s press box.  Turn that around, boys.
  • Score 30 or more points- When the Buckeyes score 30 points in the Jim Tressel era, they are 58-0.  We’re averaging 50 points per game in 2010.  I like those odds.
  • Jim Tressel’s 99th win at Ohio State- I don’t think there’s much fear of a loss, but we need to seal this one fast and get him his 100th at home next week.

  • Four passes to the tight ends– I’d like to see Stoneburner catching these, but Fragel will be acceptable as well in lieu of bad news on  the injury front.
  • Solid play from the secondary– It was baptism by fire for a couple of the younger defensive backs last week.  I’d like to see them make a couple of the plays they missed and show that they’re learning from the film.
  • Posey to have a big day– DeVier has gotten lost a little bit as defenses have been keying on him like crazy.  While it’s opened up Sanzo to have a big year, it would be nice to see Posey make an effort to shed his defenders.
  • Solid play in the running game– I’m not concerned about our running game right now, especially considering that most defenses have been choosing to stop the run rather than the pass.  It would, however, be nice to see Saine and Herron do what we all know they can do – gain yards on the ground.

  • Taking it to the next level- We know this team is good, but now we’re entering the heart of the season and I think we can take it up another notch (or two).
  • A breakout game for somebody- Preferably not Pryor on this one.  I’m fine with saving his best for closer to the end of the season.  It would be great to see one of the backs get 100+ in this game.
  • Pressure on the QB- Our D-line should be wreaking havoc in this game, leading to the forced mistakes that make a huge difference and build momentum.

Mali

  • No False Starts- Why break the streak?
  • Better Coverage- If it’s the linebackers, if it’s the safety, I don’t know. I do know that Illinois has a play maker at QB so it may be easy to break down on your assignments… this can’t happen if Ohio State is to be successful this year.
  • Hall/Berry- First, this would mean that Ohio State is in control of the game. Second, let’s give these young guys a couple of cracks with the starting offensive line… I think we’ll all be pleasantly surprised.
  • Sad Panda Zook- He’s on a “hot seat watch”, so let’s keep the fire going.
  • Stupid Wooden Turtle- Look, it’s not a cool trophy like an axe or a jug… wait, maybe it is. Anyway, it lives in Columbus and should return there.

Joe

  • Win the Turnover Battle- Teams that get upset give the ball away.  I will have this as one of mine the rest of the year.
  • A Punt or Kickoff return- Berry and Hall have been close the past couple weeks.
  • That we are ready for the big ten season after the first four easy games- The players can’t let the success of the out of conference schedule affect their focus during Big Ten play.
