*Manning made a good point in that last statement. The Colts at times on Sunday moved efficiently between the 20-yard lines, and there were times early in the game when they ran as well as they have all season. A trademark of the Colts’ offense when it’s going well is they’ll run as often as needed and throw as often as needed. Manning correctly read how the Chiefs were going to defend the Colts and twice early in the game Indianapolis used the run to move toward the Chiefs’ goal line. On each possession, Indianapolis settled for field goals. A 14-0 lead in the second quarter is vastly different from a 6-0 lead, and that difference kept Kansas city in the game until midway through the fourth quarter.
