Manning correctly read how the Chiefs were going to defend the Colts and twice early in the game Indianapolis used the run to move toward the Chiefs’ goal line. On each possession, Indianapolis settled for field goals. A 14-0 lead in the second quarter is vastly different from a 6-0 lead, and that difference kept Kansas city in the game until midway through the fourth quarter.
