Hayden’s interception return for a touchdown was his second of the season. The Colts might have had two in a game for the first time since 1970 had Hagler been able to keep his feet.
Hagler returned his interception 35 yards. He sidestepped Palmer near the Cincinnati 15 but as Palmer sprawled, his right foot clipped Hagler’s left leg. Hagler stumbled and went down at the 10 to set up Adam Vinatieri’s third field goal in as many tries.
“I think it was a little bit of a leg whip,” Hagler smirked. “I think (Palmer) ought to get fined.”
