It should have been a day for Colts fans to celebrate. In retrospect, considering the outcomes of other games Sunday, the Colts would have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs if they had lost. But even with the team finding a way to endure and make these last two regular-season games matter, I couldn’t help but think about Collie on the drive home. Subtracting him from the equation, in addition to so many the Colts have placed on injured reserve before him, had me thinking the worst. Not fearing it, but rather a sense of knowing how this will play out. The Colts have proven critics wrong before. If they can win the last two games, they will take their constantly-reshuffled roster into the playoffs, where we’ve often been told anything can happen. For now, we’ll let the optimists say that. Despite so many positives this day, the realists likely came away saying something else.
