Indy’s on a roll

If you watch that play in slow motion, Manning actually looks as if he’s going in reverse.

Perfect call, perfect execution. And a little bit amusing.

“I don’t think he’s got a second gear,” Saturday said. “Let’s just say he’s built for torque, not speed.”

“If the end zone was a little further, he would have gotten caught,” Addai said.

“When (Manning) made the fake, the whole defense converged on me,” Rhodes said. “It was a great call. But I still had time to stand there, look this way, look back, and Peyton still wasn’t past me.” Manning’s 40 time on that play? “I’d say about 7.7 (seconds).”

Intangibles: A

Honestly, I was stunned to learn after the game that nobody on the Colts sideline knew the Jaguars lost earlier in the afternoon. Nor did they make any effort to find out. After reaching 6-6, they put it in their heads that they had to win the last four games, and they haven’t deviated. In the long run, I don’t see them as a real Super Bowl threat, not with all those injuries and an AFC that’s absolutely loaded. This is different from 2006; back then, they were healthy. But they haven’t given in to the temptation to view themselves as victims of a star-crossed season. They will reach the playoffs again because it’s part of their greater culture, because it’s what they do.
