Book Review: The Way of the Warrior

Is it wrong to describe a martial arts book as “beautiful” and “stunning”?  If the book in question is Chris Crudelli’s The Way of the Warrior, then the answer is ‘no’.  This book is both beautiful and stunning, whether you’re into pictures of half-naked, sweaty men or not (not that there is anything wrong with that).

The Way of the Warrior is basically a martial arts encyclopedia (for youngsters wondering what an encyclopedia is, it is something us old people used to have to use before Wikipedia got invented) and travel guide.  Crudelli travels to every part of the world to discover every form of martial arts known to man.  No matter how obscure or extinct a style is, it finds its way into this book nonetheless.  But the real selling feature of The Way of the Warrior is it’s rich and beautiful pictures, showing martial arts practitioners the world over practicing their form of the art.

For MMA fans looking to learn more about the roots and various branches of the sport, or for casual fans looking for a highly visual, easy and informative read, The Way of the Warrior is a must have.
