When the owners are refusing to open their books, when they’re fighting tooth and nail for another billion dollars off the top of total revenues, players like Manning should be in no mood to play nicey-nice with management.

The Colts already win 12 games virtually every season, despite that giant millstone of Manning’s contract hanging around their necks. Suddenly, Manning is going to take $5 million a year less and start winning those playoff games? Another $5 million gets you, um . . . not much.
