Hill to Indiana trade official

According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, the Spurs have officially trade George Hill to Indiana for San Diego State’s Kawhi Leonard, the 42nd pick and the rights to Erazem Lorbek, who was drafted by the Pacers in 2005.

While the news of a Hill trade isn’t a surprise since he was rumored to be included in trade talks in the Spurs’ efforts to move into the lottery, what the Spurs are getting back in return is.

Hill looks to be on the path to being a very good point guard in the NBA, and trading a vital piece of the rotation and probably the Spurs’ best perimeter defender for an athletic small forward in a weak draft could be seen as questionable, but the Spurs are clearly not shying a way from making big moves.

Be sure to read Leonard’s thoughts on coming to the Spurs below, and stay tuned in to Project Spurs as we’ll be updating you with the latest on the 29th, 42nd and 59th picks.
