The Spurs have selected Latvian forward Davis Bertans with the 42nd pick they recieved in the George Hill trade.
Bertans was a name many connected with the Spurs over the last two weeks. ESPN’s Chad Ford had Bertans going to San Antonio at the 29th pick and he was even projected going as high as 26, but the Spurs have to be happy that he fell to them at 42.
Bertans is a project and he won’t come overseas for at least a few years. He’s 18-years-old, but many scouts hold him in high regard and he’s even drawn some comparisons to Mavs’ all-star Dirk Nowitzki.
Bertans is one of the best shooters in Europe and likely one of the best shooters in this draft.
He’s a very interesting prospect, but for now, he’ll stay overseas and continue developing his game.
