Spurs select Adam Hanga with 59th pick

With their last selection in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Spurs drafted Adam Hanga, a 6-7 guard/forward from Hungary.

HangaHanga wasn’t on many draft boards, but it just goes to show you that the Spurs do their due diligence when it comes to scouting overseas.

Hanga, like Davis Bertans, is a draft and stash player. The 6-7 Hanga is an athletic swingman with a very good jumper.

Mark Deeks of ShamSports describes Hanga as “the best Hungarian player alive” and calls him a “smooth and versatile wing.”

Spurs General Manager R.C. Buford said Hanga is a player the Spurs liked that they will take a wait and see approach on.

“(He’s) very fast, very athletic, great offesnive skills. I don’t know if he’s ever crossed the line to go into the defensive end of the floor, but hopefully we can introduce him to that.,” Buford said. “(He’s) a kid that we like his personality. We’ll see what happens.”
