San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker and the French national basketball team began training recently in preparation for the start of next month’s FIBA Americas Championship.
France’s training camp has started earlier than others, including Argentina’s, which will start on July 29. Parker jokingly atttributed the early start to getting French teammate and close friend Boris Diaw back in shape.
San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker — one of Diaw’s best friends — needled Diaw recently, as the French players assembled to prepare for summer international competition.
Said Parker: “Our training camp? It was planned so that Boris Diaw could get back in shape.”
Parker is likely not to first to crack on Diaw’s conditioning. Bobcats fans have had their issues with Diaw, especially when remembering the slim, athletic version of Diaw the Phoenix Suns had.
Let’s hope Diaw wasn’t as oblivious to the news as one Peter Griffin was.
