Jermaine Lawrence Granted Release From Cincinnati

<![CDATA[Jermaine Lawrence has officially been granted his release from Cincinnati amid reports that he had asked for it. In a statement, he said:

“I’m leaving UC because my father is ill. I want to be closer to him as well as be close enough where I can have him and my mom attend my games. We appreciate everyone’s support.”

The article on Cincinnati.com goes on to state that Lawrence is going to transfer somewhere closer to New York. He was a St John’s target as well, so maybe he’ll end up at St John’s. Whatever the case may be, Bearcats Blog will keep you up to speed on the Lawrence situation.

Mick Cronin added this:

“We have been praying for Jermaine’s father and understand the situation. “We wish Jermaine the best.”

Asked how his departure will affect the UC program, Cronin said, “We’ve got plenty of guys. We’ll be fine.”

Lawrence will have to sit out this season. Even if he files for a hardship waiver, that rule was changed so the athlete has to sit out the initial season.

All the best to Jermaine Lawrence. Hopefully his father will recover. That’s the most important thing.]]>
