Spurs’ Cory Joseph to play with Canadian National Team

CJAdd another San Antonio Spurs player to the list of players who will be playing basketball this summer in an attempt to draw an Olympic bid for the 2012 Olympic games. This time freshly drafted rookie Cory Joseph will be playing with the Canadian National team as soon as insurance matters are dealt with reports BasketballBuzz.ca.

Canada Basketball is currently in better financial shape thanks in part to strong partnerships from corporate support and the Toronto Raptors.

A deal is currently in the last stages to ensure that Cory Joseph will join the Canadian Team at Ryerson University (Toronto) for training camp

Not only will Joseph be getting some games in this summer, it’ll be a chance for the Spurs’ coaching staff to asses from a-far as Joseph has a chance to be the Canadian starter.

Joseph will certainly make a case for a starting point guard position. Leo Rautins will have to make some tough decisions as who to keep as the third point guard as well.

The Canadian team will open play with a European Tour from July 24th to August 5th against France, Italy, and the Czech Republic.

Of the Spurs’ four active players in this summers games, only Tiago Splitter is fully insured to play. Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are very close to being insured by their countries.
