Spurs remain undefeated in simulated NBA season

photo: freshnba.comThe NBA lockout will last at least the rest of the month but that hasn’t stopped our friends over at AccuScore to give San Antonio Spurs fans a glimpse of what could have been the Spurs first few games.

AccuScore continues to simulate the 2011-2012 NBA season and tonight the Spurs would have faced the Golden State Warriors. And according to the simulation, the Spurs would have won a close one over the Warriors thanks to strong play from Manu Ginobili and rookie Kawhi Leonard.

Here is how the game would have shook out.

Golden State Warriors 103, San Antonio Spurs 109
The Spurs won with a real team effort in this game.  Only three players scored in double figures led by Manu Ginobili’s 24, but all 12 players scored.  Tim Duncan only had 8 points and 5 rebounds because he wasn’t needed on this night.  Rookie Kawhi Leonard continued his strong play with 18 points and 6 rebounds.  David Lee had 26 points (on 24 shots) with 6 rebounds, and Monta Ellis had 21 points (on 22 shots).  The Warriors were killed by the inefficiency of their two star players.

At least in a simulated world the Spurs are 3-0. Let’s hope this does become reality if and when the new season kicks off.
