NBA lockout spurred Splitter to play with Valencia

San Antonio Spurs’ Tiago Splitter will join Spanish team Valencia Basket for the duration of the NBA lockout spurred Splitter to play with
Valencialockout. A good move for him seeing how it will give him time to play basketball to stay in shape and be ready if and when the lockout comes to an end.

But why did he pick Valencia?

Splitter (via noticiassin.com) points to Valencia’s overall team structure as one reason.

“I think the Valencia BC met every expectation I wanted in a club and has a very good structure for everything you have told me and so I decided to sign with them.”

However, perhaps the bigger reason Splitter decided to make the jump overseas was due to the lockout and in a nutshell, he basically was tired of waiting.

“I got tired a little of the situation and decided to play.”

Aren’t we all tired of the situation Tiago!

But now Splitter has to wait a bit longer to finally get on the court. He says he is feeling fine physically but it is up to head coach Paco Olmos (who recently stated he is happy with Splitter’s arrival) to make the call.

Splitter could make his Valencia debut as early as Sunday against Murcia.
