Spurs invite former NBA coach Eddie Jordan to camp

It looks like the San Antonio Spurs are trying to beef up their coaching staff a little bit for photo via philadunkia.comupcoming training camp. The Washington Post is reporting the Spurs invited former Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers coach, Eddie Jordan, about attending their upcoming training camp.

Washington Post reporter Josh Barr wrote that Jordan would like to return to the NBA and has been invited to attend training camp with the San Antonio Spurs, but for now, he’ll work with the kids.

As the report stated, right now Jordan is coaching freshman basketball at his alma mater, Archbishop Carroll in D.C. It’s admirable what Jordan is doing, but it’s clear he’s just there to help out for a while, and it’s not a long-term gig. If the high school really wanted to keep him around, you’d think they’d at least let him coach the varsity team. I think he’s probably qualified for that.

What is it the Spurs see in Jordan? Well he is one of the most successful coaches the Washington franchise has ever had. If you remember a few years ago when the Wizards kept meeting LeBron and the Cavs in the playoffs, Jordan was the coach that got them there. He took a team that had been losing for a long time and turned them around. In only his second year as coach, Jordan led the Wizards to 20 more wins than they had the year before, making them one of the most improved teams in the 2004-05 season.

Perhaps San Antonio simply wants to pick his brain during training camp or see if he wants his return to the NBA be with the Spurs. Regardless, there is no denying he would be a great add to an already great coaching staff.
