On Wednesday, the San Antonio Spurs were once again entrenched in multiple reports with mdconfirmed visits from free agents Caron Butler and Josh Howard, to amnestying one of their own in forward Richard Jefferson. By the time the evening came to an end, the Spurs had secured their first free agent target of the period, that is former Pacers guard T.J. Ford.

Here’s the latest Spurs rumors from around the league at the moment. First, courtesy of Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears’ Free-agent buzz piece. The first relevant information is that the Chicago Bulls are still the front runner for Butler.

As Caron Butler completes his personal tour of NBA suitors, the Chicago Bulls remain the team to beat for him, league sources said.

Butler has been the Spurs’ primary target, but team officials have been speaking with agents about a number of different options to fill their pending small forward vacancy. Washington Wizards forward Josh Howard also visited the Spurs this week and met with coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford.

Another interesting tidbit in the report is that the Spurs have Mike Dunleavy Jr. on their radar.

The Spurs have inquired about Mike Dunleavy as a short-term replacement. Rookie Kawhi Leonard also can play the position.

Free agent small forward Grant Hill also is looking for a championship, the Spurs are one of the teams keeping an eye on him as well but it seems he is New York bound.

At 39 years old, Hill knows he doesn’t have long left to chase a championship, and the Los Angeles Lakers, Bulls, Miami Heat, Spurs, New York Knicks and Clippers have all expressed interest in him.

And finally, cross Shane Battier off the Spurs wish list. Battier will likely be joining the Heat according to reports.
