Spurs sign Hood, Lawal

LawalThe San Antonio Spurs training camp roster continues growing as the team announced the signings of Antoine Hood and Gani Lawal today.

Hood, a 6-4 guard from the Air Force Academy, played most recently in the Czech Republic, averaging 16.8 points and 3.9 rebounds during the 2009-10 campaign.

Hood, who is a Air Force Captain, spend some time with the Denver Nuggets after college. His former coach, Jeff Bzdelik, calls him “one of the greatest competitors I’ve ever been around.”

The Spurs picked up Lawal after he was released from the Phoenix Suns. The 6-9 forward has been injury-prone during his time with the Suns. Lawal played 10 games with the Iowa Energy in the D-League, averaging 11.2 points and six rebounds.

The Spurs also announced the release of former UTSA standout guard Devin Gibson.
