Oberto has London on his mind

Fabricio ObertoWhile he’d rather be playing this NBA season instead of watching from a couch, former San Antonio Spurs center Fabricio Oberto is already looking forward to the London Olympic Games.

He and his other Argentine teammates are looking to win gold for the second time, which will likely be the last time they will be together.

Oberto, who was forced to retire from the NBA in 2010 due to a heart condition, told La Razon, while he’d like to return to the NBA, his primary goal is obviously the Olympics.

Oberto said he would do everything possible to get to London and that he wants to do the best he can possibly in the summer games without putting his condition in jeopardy.

Oberto played for the Spurs for four season from 2005 to 2009 and who knows if the Spurs will make a run at him again to address their thin frontcourt. Over the offseason, there was a report San Antonio did indeed try to add him to the team before the lockout.
