2011 Year in Review: Fight of the Year

Duke-Football

Another memorable year in mixed martial arts is in the books, so it’s time for The MMA Manifesto to hand out its coveted year-end awards.  Next up: Fight of the Year.

It was a long time coming and it was well worth the wait.  Despite both being legendary performers in Pride during the same time period, Dan Henderson and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua had never locked horns before.  That is until UFC 139 this past November, when they turned in a performance for the ages.  Actually, many are declaring this the best MMA fight of all-time.  While we won’t go that far, we’re definitely crowning Henderson vs Rua 2011’s Fight of the Year.

Runner Up: Ben Henderson vs Clay Guida

Previous: Submission of the Year, Knockout of the Year
