As if San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker’s airline miles during the month of February, he’ll have one more stop, in Orlando, after nine games on the road.
But I doubt Parker minds postponing his homecoming after he was selected as the lone Spur to play in the 2012 NBA All-Star game in Orlando by NBA head coaches today.
While Parker was buried in fan voting with players like Ricky Rubio, Kyle Lowry and others winning the fan vote, it’s not hard to see just how special Parker has been lately. From scoring 37 points against Philadelphia last night to passing the Spurs’ career assist mark on a 42 point, nine rebound night against fellow all-star Russell Westbrook and Oklahoma City.
A 20 point, 17 assist night against the Hornets is also amongst the many highlights he’s piled up this season.
This will be Parker’s fourth all-star appearance and he joins Tiago Splitter and Kawhi Leonard in representing the Spurs for All-Star Weekend on February 26.
