The San Antonio Spurs have sat atop the Southwest Division all season and the way the team is playing, it is highly unlikely they will lose their grip on the division lead.
But don’t tell that to Dallas Mavericks’ Jason Terry.
Terry thinks his team can win the Southwest Division despite trailing the Spurs in the division by five-and-a-half games, sitting at the third spot.
Jason Terry believes he and his teammates are ready to make a hard run towards winning the Southwest Division title.
“Right now if we just take care of our own business, we’ll be in a good position in the playoffs,’’ Terry said. “Just watching guys body language and seeing how we’ve come to prepare this week being back at home, we look refreshed and guys look ready.’’
Look I get that Terry has to remain positive and set goals for the Mavs but he has to know Dallas might come up short.
This season, Dallas has dealt with Lamar Odom and his personal issues, Dirk Nowitzki needing time to recover from playing in the summer, and overall haven’t looked like the defending champions at all this season. Not only that, Dallas blew a huge lead to the Spurs’ bench unit in their last meeting and barely won in overtime.
Good for you Terry for remaining positive but in the end, Dallas will be looking up to the Spurs in the division in this stretch-run towards the playoffs. I am sure the Spurs will enjoy this bit of locker room material.
