With one of the best records in the NBA, second best record in the Western Conference, and a loaded roster, the San Antonio Spurs are looking like they might be bringing another NBA title to the Alamo City.
And with the playoffs right around the corner, Tony Parker says he is liking the Spurs’ chances at winning title number five (h/t Slam Online).
“Our goal is to win a championship. Tim Duncan and I haven’t got a lot of time left. The Spurs made the right moves by signing Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw and Patty Mills. We have a complete team now. We know we can beat everybody in the West, we proved it by beating OKC two times already. Winning another title is something we can do this year.
I’m really glad the Spurs signed Boris Diaw. I’m happy to be able to play with him. The first time I saw Boris wearing the Spurs’ jersey, it was kind of a shock for me.”
Have to agree with TP. Duncan doesn’t have much more time in the NBA and Manu Ginobili will soon follow TD in retirement. This would leave Parker as the corner piece for San Antonio once the “Big Three” era is over. Moreover, you got to love TP’s confidence at the team’s shot at another title.
But the key will be health.
Last season, the team limped into the playoffs with injuries to TD and Manu and got blindsided by the Grizzlies. And the Spurs haven’t avoided the injury bug at all this season. Injuries to Manu, Tiago Splitter, and Gary Neal have plagued San Antonio. If the team can head into the playoffs at full strength, it would seem it is highly possible there will be another championship parade along the River Walk once again.
