After recording a triple-double recently for the Austin Toros, San Antonio Spurs rookie Cory Joseph notched 9 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 turnovers in 33 minutes in a 113-92 win over the Canton Charge. With the win, the Toros have now won seven straight.
Joseph has been excelling during his time in Austin. He is averaging 13.1 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds in 32.1 minutes per game.
Aside from his recent triple-double performance, Joseph poured in a double-double in the Toros’ previous game with 17 points, and 10 assists in a win over the Maine Red Claws. The same team he recorded the triple-double.
It is plain to see Joseph, who was recently name the D-League Performer of the Week, can produce on the court if given the minutes. But with the Spurs having Tony Parker, Gary Neal and Patty Mills (all who can play the point guard spot), Cory will probably be playing in Austin for some time. In the end, it is probably the best thing for him and his pro-basketball career.
Also in the win over Canton, former Spur Eric Dawson recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Joseph and the Toros will next face Iowa Energy.
