After making a comeback to basketball after suffering a horrific knee injury in college, former San Antonio Spurs player Da’Sean Butler has been waived by the Austin Toros (Spurs’ D-League affiliate) due to injury.
Butler, who was drafted by the Miami Heat in the 2010 NBA Draft, signed on with the Spurs last season. Though he didn’t get any playing time with San Antonio, he continued to rehab his knee in the hopes of playing basketball again. During the lockout, he played overseas with Riga VEF in Latvia. The Spurs would then waive him in December 2011.
For all the hard work Butler does deserve another shot at playing in the NBA. Let’s just hope this injury isn’t too serious.
The Toros have signed former NBA player Ronald “Flip” Murray to replace Butler on the roster.
