After leaving Swiss team Lugano Tigers due to personal reasons, San Antonio Spurs’ draftee Ryan Richards has signed with Sokhumi Tbilisi in Georgia and has been working on his game before signing with Sokhumi.
“I’m really excited, already practiced with the team it’s a great group of guys. I’m happy to be here, and looking forward to this new experience.”
As for the reason he left Lugano, Richards said it was simply not a good fit.
Explaining the situation which led to him leaving Switzerland before the end of the season, the San Antonio Spurs draft pick said it “wasn’t the best fit” for him and his family.
With the 2012 Olympics fast approaching, Spurs fans might be able to get a glimpse as to what he could possibly bring the team should he make Great Britain’s men’s squad. Right now, he is part of the preliminary squad.
And should the Spurs decide to bring him to the team, he could be sent to play with their D-League affiliate Austin Toros to get him acclimated to the Spurs’ system.
