San Antonio Spurs forward Tiago Splitter chipped in nine points in Brazil’s victory over Greece in the Super 4 Tournament in San Carlo yesterday.
Splitter and Team Brazil won by seven points, 78-71, over Greece, which features two players with Spurs ties and whose rights the Spurs previously owned, Georgios Printezis and Vassilis Spanoulis.
While Splitter played without Nene and Anderson Varejao in the FIBA Americas Tournament last summer, they have already rejoined the team in preparation for the Olympics.
Splitter showed marked improvement with the Spurs last season, and while international play always leads to health concerns, playing alongside Nene could be beneficial for Splitter, who could see an increased role with the Spurs shopping DeJuan Blair.
Splitter and Brazil have a tough task ahead in a friendly with the United States on July 16.
