Coach K: Spurs’ Parker among the great point guards in the world

When it comes to the best point guards in the NBA, many will mention names like Chris Paul, Deron Coach K: Spurs' Parker among the great point guards in
the worldWilliams, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, or Rajon Rondo. However, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker and his three NBA titles, Finals MVP, and multiple All-Star appearances seem to get lost in the conversation.

But last season was different. He had one of his best seasons in his pro-career and garnered NBA MVP votes for his spectacular play which helped the Spurs reach the Western Conference Finals.

Heading into the 2012 Olympics, TP came into the tournament off an injured eye which caused him to get out of shape before Team France’s opening game against the mighty U.S. due to recovering from surgery. This caused him to come out the gates flat versus Team U.S.A. and in the first half of the surprising win over Argentina.

And despite his lackluster performance against the American squad, U.S. head coach Mike Krzyzewski had nothing but high praise for Parker.

Aside from the U.S. team, France has the most NBA players with six including San Antonio Spurs playmaker Tony Parker, who Krzyzewski called “one of the great point guards in the world.”

For one of the best basketball coaches ever to call Parker one of the greatest in the world is considerable. He wasn’t just talking about the NBA, but lumped TP among the best in the world.

And Parker backed this up in the win over Argentina. In true Parker fashion, he bounced back for a slow start to the tournament and led France to the upset win leading France in scoring with 17 points and dishing out five assists.

Coach K has been leading Team U.S.A. at the Olympics for many times and he has seen some of the best point guards in the world. So for him to shower TP with praise should put a smile not only on Spurs fans but TP as well.

At least Coach K recognizes Parker and his work ranks among the best playing.
