Here are updates from some of the other great Buckeye teams that are in season this fall!

Men’s Soccer

8/26 – Last Sunday, the Buckeyes fell to the University of Illinois-Chicago 2-0 after being outplayed and missing a variety of scoring opportunities.  UIC scored to take the lead when Jorge Alvarez found Ned Pavolic behind OSU’s defense. Ivan Stanisavljevic scored the second goal for the Flames in the 83rd minute.

8/31 – On Friday night, the Buckeyes tied No. 16 Coastal Carolina 1-1 in double overtime in the Bert & Iris Wolstein Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. In the 77th minute, Alex Bujenovic launched and converted a kick from about 20 yards away from the goal to give OSU a 1-0 advantage.  The lead did not last long, however, as Coastal Carolina’s Ricky Garbanzo scored just over 2 minutes later to tie the game at one. The Chanticleers had several opportunities to take the lead in OT, but Ohio State’s goalkeeper Alex Ivanov, who finished with 11 saves, prevented them from doing so.

Women’s Soccer

8/26 – The Lady Buckeyes defeated No. 17 Maryland 1-0, evening its record to 2-2-0.  In the 18th minute, Tiffany Cameron scored the game’s lone goal for the Buckeyes.  After halftime, the Terrapins came out strong and played physical, but the Buckeyes were ready. For the game, the Terps had a 4-2 shots on goal advantage, and a 19-10 advantage overall.

Field Hockey

8/26 – Ohio State head coach Anne Wilkinson got her 200th victory as the No. 15 Buckeyes defeated No. 18 New Hampshire.  She became the first coach in program history to reach 200 wins.  Danica Deckard (senior forward) scored the only goal of the game to give the Buckeyes the lead.  The Buckeyes’ defense stifled NH, limiting them to just seven shots.

8/31 – The No. 15 Buckeyes shut out No. 25 American 2-0, paced by two goals from Danica Deckard in the second half.  Ohio State’s defense was once again stifling, limiting the Eagles to only two shots throughout the game. This was the second shut out in a row for the Buckeyes against ranked opponents.

Women’s Volleyball

8/31 – The Ohio State Women’s Volleyball team defeated Binghamton in a three set sweep in the Maryland Invitational, improving to 3-1.  Mari Hole led the Buckeyes with 13 kills, 6 digs, and 2 service aces, and Amanda Peterson had 26 assists.  Defensively, the Buckeyes finished with 9 blocks.

9/1 – The Buckeyes started the second day of the Maryland Invitational with a 3-0 win over Seton Hall.  Senior Mari Hole finished with 25 kills, 7 digs, and one block for Ohio State, while Emily Danks finished with 12 kills and 2 service aces. They then defeated Maryland 3-2 later in the day. Danks finished with a career-high 24 kills, 13 kills, and 13 digs.  She was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and was also named to the All-Tournament team.  Mari Hole and Davionna DiSalvatore were also named to the All-Tournament team for the Buckeyes.
