Paying It Forward: Marrow Donation

Earlier this week, we talked about the importance of getting more involved in issues than only giving financially– “Paying It Forward” in ways that only Buckeye Nation can do.

This morning, I got an email from a long time reader and friend regarding a way for folks to help out with something impacting his family. We don’t usually run these kinds of “articles”, but thought that this one was worth an exception. After talking with him further, here’s what he’d like to get out to you:

Mali,

That was some game yesterday, wasn’t it? The good news (the win) got even better (Braxton deemed symptom-free) as the day wore on.  Unfortunately, the news was tempered a good bit.

Ironically, this note is a follow up to your commentary on health issues ‘awareness’ compared to health issues ‘action’ in your SBP this week.

To shorten the story a good bit, I found out yesterday afternoon that my cousin who lives with her family in the Columbus area, Kim Roper, has had a recurrence of her non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She is in dire need of a bone marrow transplant. She has no siblings, so that type of match is out of the question.

There is an appeal for people to be tested, and hopefully able to be in a position to donate. Information is on this website for information. Hopefully, your readers, the BBN community and Buckeye nation can be of help. Thanks for giving me the blog space.

Regards,Ken
