Summer camps are a way for prospects to showcase their talents to the coaching staff and if they are impressive enough, an offer will be extended. According to 247Sports, Hampton was offered back on May 28th and camped in Clifton on June 7th. Apparently Hampton liked what he saw and committed the day after. He has offers from Hampton, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, Presbyterian and South Alabama.
While his offer list may not be the greatest, Hampton switched from linebacker to defensive end last year and broke the Colquitt County sack record with 19.5 last season along with 30 tackles for loss, 41 quarterback hurries and more than 120 total tackles. He has had visits and interest from the likes of Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Stanford and has camped with Florida Stat and Auburn. You can read more about his accomplishments on and off the field here. Overall, this is a fantastic pickup for the Bearcats.
Other Info
- Current commit Antonio Howard has been scorching hot the recruiting trail lately, picking up offers from Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Penn State and others. Howard even posted a 3.35 40 yard dash time at FAU’s camp. Even though he says he is firmly committed to Cincinnati, he will be taking visits elsewhere and plans to visit Clifton sometime this fall.
- Coach Tuberville and staff would like to take a quarterback this recruiting class and it looks as if their main target is Ross Trail, the #8 pro-style quarterback in the country according to 247Sports. Trail was thought to be a heavy Ole Miss lean but the Rebels picked up a commitment from a quarterback this past weekend so things may have opened back up with him. This will be one to follow closely.
