It seems that John Wall won’t change the team he plays for over the next couple seasons as the Washington Wizards‘ point guard will re-sign for five-years $80 million with the franchise that drafted him no.1 overall in 2010.
The former Kentucky Wildcat athleticism allows him to slice through defenses and get to the rim. He has yet to find a consistent jumper thought as his game matures and he develops a mid-range jumper he will become one of the superstars of the NBA. Last season, Wall indicated that he’s worthy of a max contract and the Wizards certainly obliged him with this deal.
He played in 49 games during the 2012-2013 season averaging 18.5 points, 7.6 assists, 4 rebounds, 1.3 steals, on 44.1 percent shooting and 80.4 percent from the free throw line. He wisely made the decision to not attempt threes as he shot a dismal 26.7 percent on his 45 attempts. Another concern has been injuries as he missed 13 games in his rookie year and missed 39 games in his third season, though he did play in all 66 games in the shortened 2011-2012 season.
Looking forward to the 2013-2014 the Wizard could surprise in the Eastern Conference if first round pick Otto Porter Jr., can take some of the pressure off Wall.
