Seattle Seahawks Michael Bennett Carted Off With Injury

Pittsburgh Penguins v Columbus Blue Jackets - Game Four

The Seattle Seahawks signed free agent defensive end Michael Bennett adding to an already potent defense.

During the 2012 season as a member for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 he recorded 41 tackles, 9 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two passes defended. Coming into today’s game against the Houston Texans he is the Seahawks leader in sacks with two and a half and has recorded seven tackles.

At the moment the only concern for the Seahawks and fans is how severe the apparent neck injury is that he suffered. Fox Sports sideline reporter Jennifer Hale indicated that the injury actually involved his lower back and even more importantly he had all movement in his extremities he is still at the hospital. When the injury occurred it looked serious as Bennett got taken off the field on a stretcher. The injury itself happened when his helmet hit the hip of quarterback Matt Schaub snapping his head back awkwardly and the helmet went flying off as he stayed on the ground face down. Not helping the situation is that there was pressure on Schaub five other players involved in the play.

Bennett played in college at Texas A&M and is a Houston native. While he was getting worked on by trainers it panned to the crowd in which Bennett’s father came to see his son play. Also, could see him shouting “Michael” to his son while being wheeled towards the ambulance.
