There is a twist for this week’s BCS Standings unveiled on ESPN. The Ohio State Buckeyes are now ranked #3. The#2 Oregon Ducks lost 26-20 to the #6 Stanford Cardinal.

The #1 Alabama Crimson Tide knocked out #10 LSU Tigers 38-17. The # 7 Auburn Tigers crushed the Tennessee Volunteers 55-23. The Missouri Tigers destroyed the Kentucky Wildcats 48-17.

The Ohio State Buckeyes did not play. The Buckeyes travel to Champaign, Illinois to face the Illinois Fighting Illini (3-6, 0-5).

Big debate over number three

College football fans will discuss who should be number three in the standings. The Baylor Bears are arguably the more deserving team due to strength of schedule. Ohio State is a high octane team under Urban Meyer. Did Ohio State get a lucky break? There was a lot of speculation that Baylor would jump to number three.

The Bears just walloped the #12 Oklahoma Sooners 41-12. That was not good enough. This has fans kicking and screaming. Is this fair at all? Should the Bears be ranked at three after thrashing the Sooners? Should the Buckeyes be punished for their weak schedule? Did the BCS committee drop the ball on this decision? There are many questions regarding the number three spot. There are very few answers.
