CLEVELAND – Thanks to the recent release of troubled wideout Davone Bess, free-agent Julian Edelman could be a possible target by the Cleveland Browns.
According to Chris Simms of Bleacher Report, the former Kent State standout is rumored to be one of Cleveland’s targets in free agency, which is set to begin at 4pm EST on Tuesday, March 11.
The 27-year-old Edelman caught 105 passes for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns.
Thanks to the release of Bess, Edelman could be what Bess was not for the Browns, a valuable target out of the slot and third-down specialist. With Cleveland expected to have an estimated fifty-plus million dollars to spend in free agency, signing Edelman would be a much-needed playmaker for the Browns on offense and a much-needed safety blanket for Brian Hoyer(or insert random quarterback here).
With newly-minted Pro Bowl wideout Josh Gordon and tight end Jordan Cameron expect to open up the field vertically, Edelman has the opportunity to top the career numbers he posted in Foxboro in Cleveland.
Add in a talented rookie in Sammy Watkins and Cleveland easily has a top-five offense. Signing Edelman would not only be shrewd, but a win-win for both parties.
