  • Jets Cut Mark Sanchez, Sign Michael Vick to One-Year, $5 Million Deal : A move long anticipated in the Big Apple, the New York Jets officially made the worst secret in the NFL a reality in cutting former franchise quarterback, Mark Sanchez. Sanchez, acquired in a draft-day trade with the Cleveland Browns in 2009, fifth overall, was 33-29 as a starter in his five-year career and led the Jets to two AFC Championship games in his first two. Sanchez, due a $2 million roster bonus March 25, lost his starting job to rookie Geno Smith.  After announcing the release of Sanchez, the Jets would sign former Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback to a one-year five million deal. Vick, once a starter in Philadelphia, lost his starting job to Nick Foles in 2013. In New York, Vick will be re-united with former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.
  • Texans Deal QB Matt Schaub To Raiders For Late-Round Pick : After signing free-agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a two-year deal, the Houston Texans traded former starter Matt Schaub to the Oakland Raiders for a sixth-round pick. Schaub, 33, was also rumored to be in talks of going to the Cleveland Browns, threw 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. During a five-game stretch, Schaub threw nine interceptions—with an NFL-record four being returned for a touchdown. In Oakland, Schaub is projected to start over Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin.
  • Mercer Shocks Duke : In perhaps March Madness’ ultimate bracket-buster, the 14th-seeded Mercer Bears shocked the third-seeded Duke Blue Devils, 78-71. Led by Jakob Gollon’s 20 points and Daniel Coursey’s 17, the Bears were able to withstand a season-high 15 three-pointers from Duke.  Frosh phenom Jabari Parker—in what may have his last game—scored 14 points in 28 minutes.
